Nike Rushing to Fill Positions?

In a twist for the better, the need for employees in the Memphis area has peaked as plans to expand a Nike distribution facility in 2014. If expansions go on as predicted, the company could add over 250 positions. The Memphis metro area had an 8.4 percent unemployment rate this past September, despite many open positions at warehouses that the area struggles to fill. The Memphis movers know that there is certainly job potential, though it’s been difficult finding the appropriate candidates.

The Memphis area has long been dubbed as America’s Distribution Center, but despite the flourishing market for warehouses and distribution centers, Memphis lacks in its offerings for entry level jobs and training programs to prepare people adequately to take on these positions. This leaves us concerned that the Nike corporation may have to relocate employees into the Memphis area with the appropriate qualifications rather than filling the jobs with our own Memphis residents.

In anticipation of the potential expansion, it would be wise for the Memphis area to offer training programs and groom some of our local jobseekrs for positions at the facility.
