According to Memphis realtors, July 2011 was a busy month for Memphis real estate. The city averaged about 50 more home sales when compared to July 2010; however, home prices were lower–the average price for homes sold was $124,462, which is down from last year’s $127,990.
While the prices are lower than last year’s, the first time homebuyer’s tax credit of early 2010 is held responsible by many as temporarily boosting the real estate market. The rest of 2011 will serve to educate the country on what the new normal real estate market is.
