Memphis, Tennessee is no stranger to rich music. The large city has been the birthplace of many musicians whose genres range from blues, gospel, rock and roll, to country. With music being so popular, Tennessee is known as a music mecca with frequent musical events. This past weekend, Memphis hosted yet another fantastic music event mixing old school punk with a heavy Australian influence.
Blessed with consecutive days of perfect weather and great music, this year’s 11th Annual Goner Fest was a huge success! Musicians and fans both old and young came together and shared their passion for garage, punk, and indie pop music from all around the world. Some would even consider Goner Fest an “Official Australian Festival” because of the number of Australian bands and fans that make an appearance at the event each year.
The festival consists of both indoor and outdoor stages, dispersed throughout Midtown. People from all over the world come together and enjoy great music and a great party that stays alive well into the night. The annual event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see bands reunite and rare appearances from bands who don’t normally branch out to the United States.
If you are new to Memphis or are considering moving to Memphis, keep your eyes and ears open for this annual rock music event. Goner Fest is a unique experience that brings together all kinds of unique and spunky people together for seven days of unforgettable performances.
