Moving to Memphis during the fall may get you excited to decorate your home for the season! The fall-covered leaves and crisp air will leave any new resident anxious to get their spooktacular decorations ready for a possible haunted house warming party! Moving can be expensive, so use these DIY Halloween decorations to help save money and create the perfect bone chilling décor.
Paper Bats. Use black construction paper and a stencil to create a bunch of simple bats. Tape the body of the bats to a bare wall. The quantity should depend on your wall size. Arrange the bats to look like a flock in flight. Kudos if you can make them appear to be coming out of a fire place, cabinet, or bedroom!
Caution Tape and Painters Tape. This inexpensive DIY Halloween decoration is perfect for a bedroom, porch, or patio. Use the caution tape to wrap up a door. Near the door, use the blue painters tape to outline a body on the floor.
Ghost Balloons – Cover white helium balloons in cheese cloth or another light fabric. Add some spooky details like eyes and a mouth using construction paper.
Giant Spiders – Use a black balloon, black streamers, and some tape to create a giant spider in the top corner of a room. You can use a white paint pen to draw a face.
Bloody Hand Prints – Secure a piece of saran wrap to a table. Dip your hand in Elmer’s glue and create a hand print on the saran wrap. Repeat the process, but with red food coloring in the glue. Put the red print right on top of the plain one. Once this dries you will be able to peel off a perfect bloody hand print that will stick to any window, mirror, shower door, and more! Make sure to wear gloves, or you may just be caught red handed!
