When moving to a new home, people often find that they need new furniture. Whether it is getting your child a bigger bed or new dresser, upgrading your sofa, or needing to furnish a room you did not have in your old place, it is very common to need new furniture after a move. But moving can be a big expense, so buying top-of-the-line furniture is not something that people usually want to do after spending so much on their move. That is where IKEA steps in. Its pieces are stylish, sleek, and affordable. That is why your Memphis moving company is excited to tell you that an IKEA will be opening on Germantown Parkway in the fall of 2016.
IKEA announced its Memphis plans after the city agreed to a $9.5 million PILOT tax break. The tax break was critical to IKEA’s final decision, and it was the first of its kind for a retail store. We are glad a decision was reached, because an IKEA will be great for Memphis’ economy and residents.
The store plans to hire 175 full-time employees who will be paid $40,000 or more per year, in addition to 100 part-time employees. The store will be located in the suburbs, but IKEA said that they will hire employees throughout the Memphis area. The city also plans on adding additional public transportation routes to the store, in order to help shoppers and new employees gain easy access to the store.
If you are planning a move to Memphis and think that you will need new furniture, but do not want to break the bank, you should really check out IKEA. Even if you have to put most of the stuff together yourself, the price is well worth it.
