New to Memphis? Have you been to Overton Square? If you haven’t, Memphis moving companies highly recommend that you check it out. This entertainment district is full of restaurants, shops, and other venues that make it a great place for you and your family. Overton Square is currently gearing up for its 45th anniversary celebration on May 21st.
The celebration is based on the 45th anniversary of TGI Friday’s grand opening in May 1970, which was square’s first official restaurant. Overton Square is asking the public to help them plan the celebration. People can provide any historic pictures they have of the square, or personal pictures of any parties or celebration that they have hosted at the square over the years. The photos will be used for the party’s marketing. The public can help provide contact details for musicians who performed at the square in the ‘70s, so that the party can also serve as a reunion.
Event management at Overton Square also hopes that the party will be a kind of re-open house. There are so many new shops and restaurants, so it will be a great time for people to explore, especially for those who have recently moved to Memphis.
New restaurants include the burger joint Belly Acres, Babalu Tacos & Tapas, and the German restaurant Schweinehaus. A new entertainment venue, Hattiloo Theater, recently had its grand opening at the square. Overton Square is currently 97 percent occupied.
If you have just moved to Memphis and are looking for things to do with your family, take a ride down to Overton Square. You can grab a delicious dinner, meet some locals, and learn a little more about Memphis’ culture.
