Target is a nationwide retail giant that originated in Minneapolis and is now pushing for a Memphis location in DeSoto County.
Target is currently finalizing a lease for a 900,000-square-foot-building in Southeast Memphis, to use as a distribution center. Up for discussion this week, Target is asking for incentives from Memphis and Shelby County for their industrial project, one that would create 600 jobs.
Anonymous sources say that the approval from the city for Target’s project is very likely, and that with the astounding number of 600 jobs, it would be the second largest job-producing economic development effort for the city and DeSoto County for 2014.
