1. Beale Street – Take a walk on Beale Street in Downtown Memphis to find interesting museums and live entertainment for free. Plan a visit to the Rock ‘n Soul Museum, which is free for Shelby County residents on Tuesday afternoons from 2 to 7 p.m.
2. Lichterman Nature Center – Take a late afternoon stroll through one of Memphis’ prettiest exhibits, Lichterman Nature Center. The 65-acre green space is located in the middle of Memphis and admission is free on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. until close. This is the perfect spot to unwind after making a move to Memphis.
3. Elmwood Cemetery – Located at 824 S. Dudley, Elwood Cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as it is here that numerous historical figures have been laid to rest. The cemetery is also home to an abundance of wildlife and is an official bird sanctuary and arboretum. The cemetery is open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
4. Mud Island Riverwalk – Find out more about the history of the Mississippi River and its role in the formation of Memphis during the Mud Island Riverwalk experience. You can visit this site year round after moving to Memphis and admission is free.
