Memphis may be known for its love of music, but residents find philanthropy to be an important aspect of their town, as well. If you’ve recently moved to Memphis and are interested in getting involved in community service, our local Memphis moving company has a few charity events worth looking into. Being a volunteer in Memphis is not only a great way to give back, but also gives you an opportunity to meet new friends after moving to Memphis.
- Lunch and Learn on Nov. 24 – Hosted by the Dorothy Day House, this meet and greet allows guests the opportunity to learn about how the organization is helping homeless families in Memphis. Reservations are required for lunch and there is limited space available.
- Team Max on November 26 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. – On the morning of Thanksgiving, volunteers will deliver over 600 meals to seniors throughout the community. Each team will be responsible for delivering 6-8 meals. This is the perfect service project for a family or group of friends interested in community outreach.
- Thanksgiving Day Project on November 26 – Join Volunteer Odyssey as they battle homelessness and hunger on the streets of Memphis, one survival kit and blessing bag at a time. You can create your survival kits and blessing bags at home and contact Volunteer Odyssey for information on the best drop-off location for you. Others have found this volunteer project ideal after moving to Memphis and have created gift bags filled with snacks, socks, gloves, toothbrushes, foot warmers and other necessities.
