Premiere Memphis Moving Company – 901-248-0548

According to Memphis realtors, July 2011 was a busy month for Memphis real estate. The city averaged about 50 more home sales when compared to July 2010; however, home prices were lower–the average price for homes sold was $124,462, which is down from last year’s $127,990.

While the prices are lower than last year’s, the first time homebuyer’s tax credit of early 2010 is held responsible by many as temporarily boosting the real estate market. The rest of 2011 will serve to educate the country on what the new normal real estate market is. Here in Memphis, the Memphis movers are staying busy with new individuals, families and companies who are relocating to the Memphis region. If you need professional moving assistance here in Memphis, be sure to contact All My Sons for the best service and most competitive rates!

Youth Villages, a Memphis based nonprofit that provides child welfare services has just received a $42 million grant to expand its program that helps youths who are too old for the state system of foster care and transitions them into adults.

The program is based in Memphis and currently serves 12 states–Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Now, with the funds donated, the program hopes to expand into New Hampshire, Arkansas, Virginia and Oregon.

The Memphis movers are extremely impressed by the generous donation from The Day Foundation to help aid those who are struggling to transition from the state system into adulthood. Memphis continues to shine as an example of altriusm and sharing, and we’re proud to call the great state of Tennessee home. You can learn more about the organization and also make donations at the official Youth Villages website.

A recent study was released that ranked the top 650 schools in the United States. While the list was filled with the usual suspects (Princeton, Stanford) taking top honors, schools in Tennessee fared quite well also. The study, which examined several factors such as campus life, student debt, rate of success post-graduation, and other elements that determine the overall student satisfaction of an education, ranked Rhodes College at #75, Christian Brothers University at #602, and the University of Memphis at #639.
The Memphis movers are proud to report that Tennessee was quite present in the rankings, with popular schools such as Vanderbilt University in Nashville taking the #53 position, and Sewanee University, which placed at #57. The results were gathered with the help of the Washington, DC organization known as the Center for College Affordability and Productivity.

For 2010, the national average for personal income rose about 2.9 percent. In Memphis however, we were on the high side of the average at 3.1 percent, according to the US Bureau of Economic Analysis. Tennessee as a whole fared well in the study, with Knoxville citing 3.8 percent growth and Chattanooga and Nashville both recording 4.3 percent growth.

Personal income is measured by income that is brought in by all sources–such as employment wages, interest accrued, and payments such as tenant rents and transfers. The Memphis movers feel this report shows positively on the Tennessee economy and reinforces our belief that the Memphis area is a great place for Americans to live and work. If you are thinking or relocating to the Memphis area, then be sure to get in touch with the professional family movers at All My Sons of Memphis, where we have been helping families and individuals relocate for four generations.

A new study by Creative Cities International ranks Memphis as one of the cities in the USA with the strongest vital signs. Out of 35 U.S. cities, Memphis ranked at #18 based on a variety of factors such as educational levels, cost of living, housing, public transportation and resident input.

The Memphis movers are proud to say we fared better than other major U.S. cities such as Dallas, Denver, Portland, Houston, San Antonio, Miami, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas. The residents enthusiasm for a brighter and better Memphis was highly attributed to Memphis scoring well.

The top five cities were Chicago, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, and Boston.

Fresh beans and peas are summertime staples to Southern cities like Memphis. Fresh peas and beans are a great alternative to the dried beans at the supermarket, and they save cook time. Lady peas are a famed Memphis veggie, and they are certainly in season. The Memphis movers wanted to share some tips with you on your produce shopping this season:

If you see them at a farmer’s market, buy them! They sell fast.

Steam and simmer peas and beans to make the perfect summer chili.

Cook in pork stock and add bacon for a yummy Southern treat.

Swap pinto beans or kidney beans for lady peas in your summer recipes.

Puree lady peas to make a hummus substitute.

Either way, help contribute to the Memphis economy and help Memphis flourish as a great place to live, work, buy, sell and EAT!

The Peabody Hotel is one of Memphis’ top attractions, drawing hundreds of tourists a day to come and watch the world famous Peabody ducks. The Peabody recently put out a classified ad searching for an assistant “Duckmaster” to help head Duckmaster Jason Sensat tend to the five famous birds.

The assistant would also act as a leader for the ducks from their penthouse suite to the marble fountain downstairs. The Memphis movers, as well as everyone who visits the hotel, truly get a kick out of the 78 year-old tradition.

Whether you’re looking to find a new job in Memphis (such as Duckmaster) or would like to come visit (and stay at a fabulous hotel), we highly recommend taking a trip down to the Peabody Hotel to observe a piece of American history.

To encourage Memphis consumers to shop from local vendors and shops, a campaign called Power of the Dollar has been integrated into the Memphis economy. The idea is that the more the local economy is boosted, the more the people of Memphis will feel the benefits. For example, your Memphis movers here have learned that for each million spent in Memphis, 11 new jobs are created.

The key is to make adjustments in your daily shopping to benefit local. Skip TCBY for YoLo, drive past Starbucks to get your caffeine at the Memphis business Otherlands.

The goal is to keep the money that Memphis people earn & spend circulating throughout the Memphis community. You can learn more about the project here.
